According to an Aug. 23 report from Cageside Seats, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels are set to appear on the upcoming episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, in a segment meant to help create a buzz around Brock Lesnar's rematch with John Cena at Night of Champions. Flair, Hogan and Michaels are all WWE legends, so the upcoming episode of WWE Monday Night Raw is sure to be a must-watch for old school fans of pro wrestling.
Lesnar is not expected to appear live on the episode, so the WWE is relying on some superstar legends to build hype around the biggest rematch in promotion history. Michaels will likely discuss Lesnar's skillset, while Hogan is probably remain in babyface character by praising Cena's heart and desire. As for Flair, he will probably drum up support for the match as a whole.
Hogan, Michaels and Flair are expected to appear inside the ring, but none will actually be competing. It would have been interesting if Lesnar would be on hand for the show, as Hogan was apparently legitimately upset the former UFC champion mocked him for being past his athletic prime during a recent live taping on Monday Night Raw.
Lesnar is set to rematch Cena at next month's Night of Champions pay-per-view, and the bout could certainly use some hype because their SummerSlam match was so one-sided. After Lesnar ravaged Cena with 16 German suplexes at SummerSlam, how many fans want to see the rematch? No one really knows for sure.
The WWE likely will script Cena to at least turn in a better effort than his performance at SummerSlam, where he was absolutely demolished in a matter of minutes. Here's the thing: Hogan, Flair and Michaels are all talented commentators, so if there's anyone that can get fans excited about the rematch, it's them.
