Both Miz and Antonio Cesaro have been pushed heavily in recent weeks, and this match is the logical result of the pair’s recent developing feud.
The Miz seems in line for a big push thanks to his relatively recent face turn, and was recently gifted the Figure Four Leg-lock as a finisher by the legendary Ric Flair, a move which Miz absolutely butchered last night on WWE RAW in a match against Dolph Ziggler. Yet Antonio Cesaro has been gaining momentum of late, finding both a gimmick and some degree of heat from the WWE Universe. At this point, having him drop the belt to Miz at the Royal Rumble would seem to be a setback for WWE.
The WWE’s annual Royal Rumble pay-per-view airs this Sunday at 6:30pm/c.
