According to an Aug. 25 report from Cageside Seats, the WWE is bringing a stacked pro wrestling card to the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., for a live taping of WWE Monday Night Raw. With less than a month to go before the hotly-anticipated Night of Champions pay-per-view event, the WWE is using Monday Night Raw episodes to tie up the loose story-lines heading into that show.
Since John Cena will be engaging in a SummerSlam rematch with Brock Lesnar at next month's Night of Champions, the first order of business is to hype that bout to the fullest. The WWE is going all out tonight to build a buzz around Lesnar's title defense against Cena, as Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels are expected to be making cameo appearances on the mic.
Hogan, Flair and Michaels are slated to appear in a segment to discuss the Lesnar vs. Cena rematch, so that should help sell the fight when with the former UFC champ not expected to be on hand for the live taping of Monday Night Raw. In other matters, Brie Bella and her sister, Nikki, are expected to confront each other.
Brie and Nikki Bella had a famous breakup as tag team partners just a few weeks back, so their feud is one of the hottest angles the WWE is working with heading into Night of Champions. Will they reunite tonight? Probably not. The WWE is going to want to milk the feud between the Bella twins for all its worth.
Elsewhere, it's being rumored that Seth Rollins' feud with Dean Ambrose is over for the time being. Rollins is expected to start up a new feud with his former tag team partner, Roman Reigns. The plan is to build Reigns up for a potential title shot against Lesnar at Wrestlemania 31, but that battle is still several months away.
There's plenty of time for a feud to brew between Reigns and Rollins. WWE Monday Night Raw in Anaheim is also expected to feature confrontations between Paige and AJ Lee, along with Bray Wyatt against Chris Jericho. The episode airs live at 8 p.m. on the USA Network.
