In some horrifying WWE news, WWE Hall of Fame legend Jake “The Snake” Roberts slipped into a coma after passing out on a plane. According to TMZ on Thursday, Roberts had been suffering from the flu and it turned out he had double pneumonia. The flight he was on from Atlanta to Las Vegas was for a wrestling show and he was rushed straight to a hospital.
Fellow professional wrestler Sinn “Kizarny” Bodhi was with Roberts when he passed out and had kept everyone updated on Roberts’ condition. According to Bodhi, Roberts passed out on the plane and never regained consciousness after reaching the hospital. Doctors say that his lungs are full of fluid and there is a mass on his brain that caused the coma.
Doctors at the Las Vegas hospital stated that Roberts’ immune system was weakened and they would wait a few days to run more tests. Luckily, Roberts finally woke up, but has been in and out of consciousness since that time. Bodhi made the comments that Roberts voiced concerns over disappointing fans when he woke up on one occasion.
Diamond Dallas Page, the man who helped Roberts get clean from alcohol and drugs, later tweeted that he spoke to Roberts’ girlfriend. He reported that she said that Roberts had awoken from his coma. However, he had been slipping in and out of consciousness since then.
Roberts had suffered from substance abuse for much of his life but was finally enjoying a new lease on his life since cleaning up. The WWE inducted him into the WWE Hall of Fame and brought him back to television for a special appearance for the first time in over a decade earlier this year. Hopefully, Roberts can kick this pneumonia and continue his amazing recovery.
