Jake “The Snake” Roberts passed out on an airplane last week and rumors indicated he slipped into a coma. He has since woke up, but has been placed on ventilators to help him and he has been kept under to keep his pain levels down. According to his friend Sinn Bodhi, who was with the WWE Hall of Fame star when he passed out, things are improving for Roberts after a surgery on Sunday.
Sinn Bodhi, who wrestled in the WWE as Kizarny, was traveling with Roberts to Las Vegas for a wrestling appearance when Roberts passed out on the plane. It turned out that Roberts had double pneumonia and the fluids had built up in his system. One of the reasons he passed out was likely because of the pressure on his brain from the excess fluids.
After Roberts was hospitalized, his close friend Diamond Dallas Page contacted Roberts’ girlfriend and said that Jake was in and out of consciousness at that time but his family was there with him. Bodhi said that he has remained by Roberts’ side the entire time.
Bodhi said that Roberts underwent a surgery known as a bronchoscopy. According to WebMD, a bronchoscopy is where a doctor puts a thin viewing instrument into a patient’s throat to examine the throat, larynx, trachea and lower airways. The rigid bronchoscopy also clears the airway of objects, and from Boidhi’s description, this sounds like what Roberts had done.
The next step for the WWE Hall of Fame superstar is oxygen tests. Bodhi said that Jake Roberts will have the oxygen tests tomorrow or Wednesday to see if he can breathe without the ventilator. Luckily, Bodhi said that Roberts is joking with nurses and telling jokes while conscious, so it sounds like he it really improving.
