WWE news: Jake Roberts fighting for his life

According to an Aug. 28 report from FOX Sports, pro wrestling legend, Jake Roberts, is fighting for his life, after falling ill on a flight to Las Vegas on the afternoon of Aug. 28. Roberts, 59, was on his way from Atlanta to a wrestling show in Las Vegas, when he felt faint during the plane ride. The former WWE and WWF superstar went unconscious moments later, and was taken to a Las Vegas hospital.

Shortly after Roberts was hospitalized, TMZ reported that he had been diagnosed with double pneumonia. Roberts, a WWE Hall of Famer, has apparently been in and out of consciousness ever since being hospitalized, but he is expected to make a full recovery. His illness is not expected to be life-threatening, so long as he gets much-needed rest.

Wrestling standout Sinn Bodhi has been staying by Roberts' bedside and providing fans with periodic updates on his condition. On Twitter, he told WWE Universe that Roberts had been advised by doctors a couple weeks ago to take some time off because his immune system was in bad shape.

Roberts, who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame earlier this year, has been battling cancer since 2012. Unfortunately, WrestlingInc.com reports that doctors found a mass in Roberts' brain. His lungs are also apparently filled with fluid. Heading into the weekend, more details are sure to emerge about Roberts' condition.

Roberts is one of the all-time greatest pro wrestlers, as he was superb both on the mic and inside the ring. He has a knack for cutting great promos, and also dazzling with high-level wrestling techniques. He is perhaps best known for his two stints in the WWF, which culminated in the late-90s. To this day, he remains a fan favorite with WWE supporters across the globe.
