This week’s episode of “WWE Monday Night Raw” was an eclectic and mixed affair. There were some fantastic matches and some head scratching backstage promos and skits. Part of that may be explained by the news that PWS reported on Tuesday that the WWE fired head writer Jay Gibson over the weekend.
The biggest complaint about the show was the backstage angle with Vickie Guerrero. To recap, Guerrero was taking coffee to Triple H and Stephanie McMahon when she came across Roman Reigns. Reigns told her that this was beneath her and that she was a Guerrero. As Reigns said, that means something. That part of the segment was great.
However, after that Reigns mentioned that she forgot the cream for the coffees. She put the drinks down and ran to get them. While she was gone, Reigns spiked the coffee with something. That caused Stephanie McMahon to run out of an interview and get sick in the bathroom. When Triple H asked Vickie Guerrero to check on Stephanie, she opened the door and McMahon threw up on her in comic fashion with projectile vomit.
It was low brow and it was ridiculous. It was also the first “WWE Monday Night Raw” that Vince McMahon had a large hand in creative control of after Gibson was fired. The writing is similar to older skits such as The Spirit Squad getting outhouse remnants dumped on them. It caused many people discussing the show on Twitter to say they were turning it off.
Last night was also the debut of Stardust, which is Cody Rhodes dressed up like his big brother Goldust, Stardust came out acting like his brother and then the Rhodes brothers completely squashed Rybaxel. While this could be easy to blame on McMahon, the seeds were set up the week before and both Goldust and their dad Dusty Rhodes seemed very happy with the results.
