The news that Davey Richards and Ring of Honor Wrestling have suffered a break in their relationship has been followed by a possible reconciliation for the wrestler as he heads to the WWE. According to PWInsider on Dec. 3, Richards might be taking on a date or two at Evolve Wrestling.
The WWE allowed Richards and Eddie Edwards to fulfill their responsibilities to Ring of Honor and other independent promotions before returning to NXT to continue their work at the WWE Performance Center. Edwards will still wrestle at the “ROH Final Battle 2013” PPV, but Richards was removed from the company after an interview where he insulted the Ring of Honor promotion.
Now, Gabe Sapolsky, the man who runs Evolve, has asked fans if he should offer Davey Richards a chance to wrestle at an Evolve show as one of his final independent dates. Richards himself actually responded and said “Yes.”
This is ironic because Sapolsky, the former Ring of Honor booker, wanted to build Evolve around Davey Richards when he started it but Davey rejected the offer and stayed in Ring of Honor.
Sapolsky was rumored to be very angry at the snubbing because he thought they had an agreement. Now, years later, it looks like it may be water under the bridge and Richards may end up using Evolve as his swan song before possibly finally signing a WWE contract.
