WWE superstar Cody Rhodes did a recent interview before he wrestled in Toronto with his brother Goldust and the conversation turned to his dad, The American Dream Dusty Rhodes. According to prowrestling.com on Dec. 22, Rhodes compared his father to Vince McMahon.
In the statement, Rhodes was talking about the men who helped change professional wrestling from just sports to sports entertainment and seeing the industry beyond the actual in-ring action. He said that Dusty Rhodes was right up there with men like Vince McMahon, Eric Bischoff and Bill Watts when it came to seeing things bigger than just wrestling.
Of course, McMahon built the WWE into a global phenomenon while Bischoff built up WCW. But, before those two men changed the wrestling world, Rhodes in Florida and Watts in the Mid South were doing things ahead of their time, creating wrestling stories and action above-and-beyond what anyone else was doing at the time.
Cody said that his dad's character was not the kind that he was interested in following at the time, but he still feels his father is a top five wrestler in the history of the business.
Rhodes also talked a lot about working with his brother Goldust, who he says brings a lot to the WWE, as well as his own future dreams, which he said involves one day winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
