According to a Sept. 3 report from Inquisitr.com, the divide between CM Punk and the WWE continues to grow. Will Punk ever return to the WWE roster? With the latest news being a potential lawsuit regarding missed royalty checks, it's not looking good for his return to the ring.
Punk, 35, isn't pleased the WWE used his likeness in the forthcoming WWE 2K15 video game, and he has turned it into a legal matter. By all accounts, a 22-page letter has been sent to the WWE from Punk's lawyers, demanding royalty checks for his name and likeness being used in the video game. Punk wasn't expecting the WWE to use his likeness in the game, since he hasn't appeared at any of the promotion's house shows in over eight months.
WWE 2K15, which features John Cena on the the cover, will be released in North America on Oct. 28. It was be also be available in late-October in Europe. Punk is expected to be featured as a playable character in the game, even though he is no longer part of the WWE team. Punk walked away from the WWE following this year's Royal Rumble, and he hasn't competed at any house shows since.
Since he last competed under the WWE banner, Punk was spotted at multiple Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Cubs games. He also appeared on a post-episode recap show for "The Walking Dead" on AMC. Elsewhere, Punk got married to WWE Divas superstar, AJ Lee, and he was also spotted on a honeymoon with her in Hawaii.
Punk, a three-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, hasn't made any indication that he'll be returning to the WWE any time soon, if at all. By all accounts, he is enjoying life in retirement. Time will tell if Punk will end up getting the royalty checks he's seeking, or if he'll walk away with nothing. The WWE apparently stopped sending Punk checks because they feel he breached his contract.
