WWE news: CM Punk medically cleared to return to ring

WWE.com reported on Jan. 2 that doctors have medically cleared CM Punk to return to in-ring action. This comes several weeks after he underwent surgery to clean up his knee.

With professional wrestling pre-determined, many injury reports remain questionable about whether a person is really hurt or not. Punk and the WWE have used this as an angle over the past few weeks, with Punk mentioning that many people think his injury was fake and that he never had surgery.

However, the surgery was real, although the injury at the hands of Ryback was just a gimmick to allow Punk to have his surgery while also putting Ryback over with the fans, having "injured" the WWE Champion.

The next question is what this will lead to story-wise.

On WWE Monday Night Raw on Dec. 31, Vince McMahon came out and said that if CM Punk is medically cleared, that he will have to wrestle Ryback in a tables, ladders and chairs match on the first Raw of 2013. If he can't wrestle, Paul Heyman will have to fight Ryback in the TLC match.

With WWE.com reporting that Punk has been medically cleared, it is obvious that Punk will have to wrestle Ryback unless he finds a way to sneak out of it again. WWE.com also said this entire situation would be addressed on WWE Main Event on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. EST on Ion.
