When WWE legend Big Daddy V died of a heart attack at the age of 42, the obvious reaction was it was due to his excess weight. However, TMZ reported on Feb. 20 that the WWE star died after losing 100 pounds.
TMZ spoke to Cassandra Frazier, the wife of Nelson Frazier Jr., also known as Big Daddy V, Viscera and Mabel from his WWE days. According to Frazier, her husband's doctor told him that his excess weight was making his diabetes worse.
That seemed to scare the big man, who started losing weight. His wife said that he dropped 100 pounds in six months and his blood pressure dropped to a much healthier level at that time. This is one of the big reasons that those close to him were shocked when he died of a heart attack.
TMZ predicted that the weight loss might have come too late or he might have lost the weight too fast, causing his heart to give out on him.
According to Web MD, rapid weight loss by critical calorie restriction increases risks of metabolic syndrome, which can lead to increased risk of heart disease. Over exercising also can cause a lot of problems, so while the person may be losing weight other dangers may increase. According to the Mayo Clinic, if a person loses too much weight too quickly, there is a chance it is not fat that is being lost and it can cause unhealthy results.
The fact is, at the end of the day, Big Daddy V was trying to get healthy and it seemed to be working according to his wife. Unfortunately for her, as well as his WWE friends and fans, it wasn't enough to stop the heart attack that took him at far too young of an age.
