According to a Sept. 1 report from Mstars News, the WWE's creative team threw wrestling fans for a loop last night on WWE Monday Night Raw in Des Moines, Iowa, as they merged two of the hottest storylines heading into Night of Champions. Nikki and Brie Bella had been feuding for the past several weeks, as had AJ Lee and Paige.
Their feuds were completely separate and not had nothing to do with each other, but the WWE made the shocking decision to mesh them together. It now appears the Nikki Bella vs. Brie Bella and Paige vs. Lee angles have merged. Last night on WWE Monday Night Raw, WWE head honcho Stephanie McMahon walked out to the ring with Nikki Bella.
She told Bella that she would be granted a shot at the WWE Divas title. Brie Bella then walked out to the ring and confronted McMahon and Nikki. Moments later, Lee emerged from backstage and went toe-to-toe with McMahon. She told the boss lady that she is the true contender for the WWE Divas Championship, so she was fuming when it was announced that Bella would receive a title shot.
To wrap up the segment, WWE Divas Champion, Paige, walked out to the ring and confronted each of the ladies in the ring. She told McMahon that she's the true champion of the WWE Divas Division. Shockingly, Brie then smashed Nikki Bella and Paige to the mat, before walking off set. Lee quickly picked up the belt, before McMahon took it back from her.
What does this mean for the Nikki Bella vs. Brie Bella and Paige vs. Lee angles? No one knows for sure except WWE's creative team. It was expected that Lee would be colliding with Paige in a singles match for the WWE Divas Championship, later this month at Night of Champions. Nikki Bella was also slated to compete against Brie Bella in a singles match on the pay-per-view card.
After last night's episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, the promotion could take the new angle a number of different ways. In all likelihood, the WWE will script AJ Lee to align with Brie Bella, for a collision between Paige and Nikki Bella. That would make the most sense, but time will tell how the WWE plays it.
