In some interesting WWE news, it sounds like the success of “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and specifically that of Batista, has cost the WWE his services for the remainder of this year. When Batista was written out of the WWE storylines, it was because he had to leave to promote Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” and he would return after that ended. In a recent fan interaction session, PWS reported on Sunday that Batista said he wouldn’t be back in the WWE in 2014.
The Q&A session took place at the Fan Expo in Toronto, Canada. Batista was there representing Marvel and answered questions about wrestling and the movies. According to Batista, he will be too busy this year to return to the WWE, which means he might not be back at all.
Ever since his breakout performance in “Guardians of the Galaxy” as Drax the Destroyer, his popularity has skyrocketed in movie circles. While Batista was once just known as a supporting player, such as in last summer’s “Riddick,” there is a chance that this performance could earn him some major roles down the line.
If Batista wants to try his hand at becoming an action star, now is the time. Plus, there is also the fact that “Guardians of the Galaxy” will get a sequel and the rumor is that it might come in the next three years. With that said, the fact that “Guardians of the Galaxy” is the highest growing movie of 2014 means that Batista might have finally broken through into the Hollywood spotlight. As The Rock has shown, that can be detrimental to a WWE career.
