Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards impressed the WWE with their NXT tryout debut and will return to the company later this month under the title interns. According to prowrestling.com on Dec. 6, they are signed as interns until March 2014.
The big test for Richards and Edwards came in their NXT television appearance where they were squashed and beaten down by veteran NXT tag team The Ascension. The word backstage is that the beatdown was booked to see how Richards and Edwards would react to it.
The two have been seen as model employees and had no problem doing the job to The Ascension, and never complained at all about the angle. This is a large reason they were brought back for a longer look. Triple H is said to be against signing them because he feels the WWE has enough smaller “indie looking” guys and he wants more bigger-than-life characters.
However, a number of people including William Regal have been pushing hard for the WWE to give both men a chance. Now, the two will finish up their indie bookings, which includes Eddie Edwards appearing at Ring of Honor “Final Battle” next weekend and Davey Richards wrestling for CZW in a big match before they return to NXT for their internship role.
