"WWE Monday Night Raw" began on Friday night with a Vince McMahon vs. Paul Heyman match and things just kept getting bigger after that. Here is a look at what went down on this week's episode of "Raw."
The show opened with Vince McMahon in the ring on crutches. He then called out Paul Heyman for their fight. Heyman came to the ring, talking big about how McMahon has put so many promoters out of business before attacking McMahon. Once Vince got the advantage, Brock Lesnar came out. Before, Brock could attack Vince again, Triple H made his big return and the two fought.
Triple H busted Brock Lesnar open and when he got a chair, Lesnar retreated.
The first match on the card saw Dolph Ziggler take on Ryback. Despite continued interference by Big E Langston, Ryback picked up the win with the Shell Shock.
CM Punk came out next. He cut a huge promo about being the best in the world, calling himself immortal, an icon who walks among superstars and a "God." It all sounded like a lead-in to the return of The Undertaker, but it did not happen here.
The WWE announced the induction of Donald Trump into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame.
In the next match, Mark Henry beat Great Khali after hitting the World's Greatest Slam.
After that, The Miz came out for Miz TV. His guests were Alberto Del Rio and Roberto Rodriguez, who faced off with Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger. Colter did most of the talking, explaining that Del Rio set an example for millions of illegal aliens crossing the borders and stealing resources and jobs.
Del Rio answered that the U.S. does not belong to just Americans, but everyone, and if Swagger wanted to make him leave he could try. Swagger said he would see him at Wrestlemania and then left. This is an interesting storyline with a lot of people actually believing in what Colter said.
During the break, Zeb Colter came back out and said he didn't like how Miz sided with Del Rio. Then Jack Swagger came out and nailed Miz from behind.
The next match on the card saw U.S. Champion Antonio Cesaro take on Randy Orton. Orton won the match with an incredible move. Cesaro went to the buckles and flew off for his patented flying forearm smash but Orton spun around and caught him with the flying RKO.
Next up, Sheamus came out and cut a promo that simply made fun of Wade Barrett's upcoming movie debut. Barrett came out and answered the comments but the two never laid a hand on each other before Barrett bailed.
Cody Rhodes and R-Truth came out to fight next. Rhodes' former tag team partner Damien Sandow was at ringside for commentary. R-Truth won the match, and then fought off Damien Sandow after the match.
Next up, Team Hell No beat The Prime Time Players despite Daniel Bryan being blindfolded and Kane having one arm tied behind his back. Kane pinned Darren Young after a choke slam.
The Shield came to the ring next and talked about how they have beaten everyone placed in front of them so far. That brought out Sheamus, who challenged them to come up to the entrance and fight him there. Dean Ambros and Roman Reigns headed up there, but Randy Orton ran from out of the crowd and hit the RKO on Seth Rollins, before heading back into the crowd.
Jack Swagger fought The Miz in a grudge match after the attack earlier on the show. Miz looked really good, but he made one bad move, got his leg tangled in the ropes, and Swagger capitalized, winning with the Patriot Lock submission hold. It looks like Swagger won't be punished yet for his arrest last week.
John Cena then cut a backstage promo about the upcoming match with CM Punk and the possible match with The Rock at Wrestlemania.
That led to the main event between CM Punk and John Cena. The match was amazing, lasting over 20 minutes with both men looking like a million bucks. Punk even kicked out of the Attitude Adjustment and Cedna kicked out of the GTS. Then, both men revered the other man's submission finishers. Finally, Cena beat Punk with the AA, the first and only time he has ever beat Punk.
Now, John Cena is heading to Wrestlemania to fight The Rock for the WWE Championship.
