WWE Monday Night Raw results: CM Punk makes grand return

According to a March 2 report from, CM Punk made his grand return to the WWE fold during the March 3 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, which was filmed in his hometown of Chicago, Ill.

However, Punk only returned in spirit. He wasn't actually on hand for the event.

Punk's name was chanted loudly throughout the arena, before, during and after the show.

There were also several homemade Punk banners and signs that fans brought to the event, so it seems clear WWE Universe hasn't forgotten about him.

Punk hasn't competed inside the WWE ring since early-January, when he battled for over 50 minutes in the Royal Rumble.

Punk was apparently so upset that he wasn't scripted to win the rumble that he decided to walk away from the promotion for an extended period of time.

It was widely rumored that he would be returning to the fold during the March 3 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, but it wasn't meant to be.

While Punk did not show up for the event, there's a chance he will still return for Wrestlemania XXX. Punk is under contract with the WWE until July, so fans can hold out hope that their hero will return before long.

Despite the absence of Punk, the March 3 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw was a massive success.

The event, which was filmed at Chicago's Allstate Arena, featured a bout between The Shield and The Wyatt Family, which was a rematch of their "Elimination Chamber" tilt.

The Shield's Roman Reigns duked it out with Bray Wyatt in a singles match on last week's episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, but there is a lingering feud between The Shield and The Wyatt Family.

The Shield lost at Elimination Chamber, and Reigns was defeated last week. However, it seems like this week The Shield will finally get a victory to earn their way back into the win column.

Aaron Paul also served as guest star of the Chicago episode of "Raw."

In other matters, Batista returned to the ring, one week after defeating Dolph Ziggler. Additionally, Daniel Bryan took on Triple H, and John Cena made a special guest appearance.

Here's a look at the full WWE Monday Night Raw results for the March 3 episode in Chicago:
