The 20th anniversary episode of WWE Monday Night Raw took place on Jan. 14 and the card featured the WWE Champion in action, a steel cage match and The Rock in concert. Here is a look at what went down on the big Raw episode.
The biggest rumors coming into the episode of Raw was that legends were coming back to the WWE for this night to pay tribute to the 20 years that Raw aired. The most disappointing thing about the night was that none of the expected veterans returned. Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels were all rumored, but none showed up, making the episode of Raw feel just like any other.
The episode opened with Vince McMahon in the ring, but Big Show interrupted the opening promo. Show wanted his World Championship back, which led to Alberto Del Rio coming out. A rematch was set for the Royal Rumble and the promo ended with Del Rio beating up Show and McMahon announcing him as the world champion.
The first match featured a shocking upset as Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett beat Randy Orton cleanly.
Kane and Daniel Bryan had their anger management checkup next and it all ended with Dr. Shelby asking them to beat up The Rhodes Scholars. In separate matches, Kane beat Damien Sandow and Bryan beat Cody Rhodes.
Next up, Mick Foley was announced as the first 2013 Hall of Fame inductee. The Shield interrupted his speech but Ryback, Randy Orton and Sheamus ran in to save him. The only other legend to show up was Ric Flair on Miz TV. Antonio Cesaro came down to interrupt that but Flair and Miz beat up Cesaro.
In the Diva's Championship match, Kaitlyn finally beat Eve for the title, causing Eve to quit the WWE after the match.
Last week on Raw, CM Punk said that Brodus Clay was a monster who was forced to act like a goof to get over. That made Clay mad and they fought here. Punk won the match by submission.
The next match was another upset as 3MB beat Sheamus in an over-the-top battle royal match with Heath Slater as the last man standing. Sheamus beat them all up after the match.
The main event was a fantastic match between John Cena and Dolph Ziggler in a steel cage match. Cena won the match when Big E Langston's interference backfired.
The show then ended when The Rock put on another singing concert where he made fun of Paul Heyman and Vickie Guerrero. He then called out CM Punk, who came out. The two began to fight and had to be pulled apart to end the show.
