For the last few months WWE superstar Goldust has been lobbying for a match against his real life brother Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 28 which takes place on Sunday April 1st in Miami, Florida. Many wrestling fans have gotten behind Goldust's campaign and apparently the WWE is listening. However, the WWE brass is leaning toward making the match sooner. According to a Thursday January 26th report by WrestleZone.com, the WWE is tentatively booking the match for the Elimination Chamber PPV in February.
Goldust, real name Dustin Runnels, and Cody Rhodes, real name Cody Runnels, are the sons of wrestling legend "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, real name Virgil Runnels Jr. Dustin is roughly 16 years older than his brother Cody and has been wrestling since the late 80's. He's had success in numerous promotions holding many titles. However, most fans will remember him as the wild character of Goldust. Cody has basically spent his entire professional career with the WWE and has quickly become one of the top young stars in the company at the age of 26.
Cody is poised to become a main event star this year and will definitely see a world title run by the end of 2012. However, it's unclear what the WWE has in store for Cody at WM 28 if they plan on going with the brotherly feud in February. Cody has already had a few run-ins with his brother over the last month due to his feud with Goldust's former tag-team partner Booker T.
