The WWE Hall of Fame is closing in fast and only four names had been announced for the 2014 class. However, a fifth name leaked out on March 11 when Carlos Colon said that the WWE contacted him about entering the WWE Hall of Fame this year. The WWE confirmed it at the “WWE Smackdown” tapings tonight.

Carlos Colon was the biggest name in Puerto Rico at the same time that “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair was the NWA world champion and Hulk Hogan was on top of the WWE. He was worked in Puerto Rico with huge names like Randy “Macho Man” Savage, Flair, Bruiser Brody and Stan Hanson. Colon actually beat Flair while the Nature Boy was the NWA world champion, and that match created the prestigious WWC Universal Heavyweight title.

Colon held that belt a record setting 26 times.

In his career, the biggest nemesis of Colon was easily the monstrous Abdullah the Butcher, who was inducted recently into the WWE Hall of Fame as well. Colon finished his career in the WWE in 1993 and actually participated in the Royal Rumble that year.

As for who will induct Carlos Colon into the WWE Hall of Fame, the most obvious choices are his children. He is the father of both former United States and Intercontinental champion Carlito and Primo Colon. He is also the uncle of Epico. Primo and Epico are both currently wrestling in the WWE as Los Matadores.
