The WWE announced their next 2014 WWE Hall of Fame inductee, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, on Jan. 27. The announcement was the culmination of a long battle for Roberts as he has worked to kick his alcohol and drug habits and clean up his life.
Jake "The Snake" Roberts seemed like a lock for the WWE Hall of Fame when he returned for the WWE old school "Monday Night Raw" at the start of the year. Diamond Dallas Page helped get his friend on the show and Roberts made a solid, good impression while he was there.
It was all to the hard work of Roberts, as well as the help of Page, that Roberts is back in the WWE and ready to move on with his life. Before Page reached out to Roberts to help his old friend, Roberts had been an addict for almost two decades, addicted to drink and drugs, and his life was spiraling to a slow death.
The movie "Beyond the Mat" showed how low Roberts life had gotten a decade ago when he threw his career and his family away for drugs. A decade passed and he was still stumbling through life, on a crash course for an early grave.
However, thanks to Page and his patented DDP Yoga, Roberts has not only been able to clean his life up, but get in what he calls the best shape he has been in since the mid-90s. What rehab stints couldn't fix, the exercise and dedication that DDP Yoga teaches gave Roberts something to replace his addictions.
Now, Jake "The Snake" Roberts will enter the WWE Hall of Fame, one of the biggest moments in his road to recovery.
