WWE ‘Extreme Rules’ preview: New stipulation just added for show

Normally, the WWE “Extreme Rules” features a card full of different sorts of specialty matches. However, heading into the event this weekend, only the John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt steel cage match has been heavily promoted. However, PWInsider.com reported on Saturday that the match between Rob Van Dam, Jack Swagger and Cesaro will now be an elimination match. Here is a look at the full WWE “Extreme Rules” preview.

WWE “Extreme Rules” opens with a little person match as Hornswoggle takes on El Torito in a WeeLC match. This probably means there will be a step ladder and some little chairs involved. This is on the pre-show.

When the actual WWE “Extreme Rules” event starts, the first match looked at here is the three-way match between Cesaro, Jack Swagger and Rob Van Dam. Swagger is managed by Zeb Colter and Cesaro by Paul Heyman. This match will either see Cesaro win and continue to climb the ladder or Van Dam win because the managers can’t keep out of the match.

A handicap match with R-Truth and Xavier Woods taking on Alexander Rusev is next. Both shows last week saw Rusev take on each of these guys and they caused each other’s disqualifications. However, Rusev is on the way up and R-Truth and Woods are stagnate. Rusev wins here.

Paige defends her Divas title against Tamina Snuka in the next match. Paige has looked pretty good since winning the Divas title, but this is her biggest competition so far. However, fans of NXT knows that Paige was the first ever NXT Women’s Champion and in the tournament she won for that, she beat Tamina.

Bad News Barrett won the tournament to crown the number one contender for the Intercontinental title and he gets his shot at the WWE “Extreme Rules” event. His opponent is Big E, who hasn’t wrestled a lot over the last few weeks and has barely defended his title since the year began. Barrett is getting a lot of cheers and the fans seem ready to accept him, so the title might change hands here.

The steel cage match between John Cena and Bray Wyatt is their second pay-per-view meeting in a row. This time, Cena believes that the cage will keep out The Wyatt Family, but they have found their way into cages before, such as at “Elimination Chamber” when the feud began. Wyatt has been on fire recently, and a win here could really help him, but with Cena fighting for his legacy, that might be a tall order.

The WWE World Championship is on the line in an Extreme Rules match, as Daniel Bryan defends his belts against Kane. So far, leading into this, Kane has destroyed Bryan in an attack that ended with three tombstone piledrivers and then he tried to abduct Bryan’s wife Brie Bella. This is a monster that Kane has not portrayed in a long time, but Bryan won’t lose his title here.

The main event is not for a title, but a match to show who the most dominant faction in the WWE is. The Shield takes on the reunited Evolution. The idea here is to push Roman Reigns, so expect The Shield to come out on top or for something to happen to push the storyline along until Triple H can battle Reigns later in the year, possibly at “Summerslam.”

WWE “Extreme Rules” kicks off with the pre-show at 7:30 p.m. EST. Direct TV, DISH and UVerse have all chosen not to show the event, so if you have one of those service providers, the only way to see it is through the WWE Network. Other cable operators are still carrying the show.
