WWE Elimination Chamber 2014 Preview: 6 men enter 1 man leaves WWE World champ

WWE Elimination Chamber live on PPV on Feb. 23rd
WWE Elimination Chamber live on PPV on Feb. 23rd

WWE Elimination Chamber 2014 goes live tonight at 7 pm C / 8pm E live on pay per view from Minneapolis, Minnesota with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship up for grabs inside the Chamber. The card is also stacked with a 6-man tag team faction war, two former partners doing battle, and much more. There is plenty of action outside the ring with WWE this week with tomorrow's launch of the WWE Network which caused DISH Network to drop tonight's PPV broadcast. No matter the politics of the situation, this EC card has a lot of intense matches to take in. Pro Wrestling Examiner breaks down everything on this year’s Elimination Chamber show.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber Match
Randy Orton © vs. Daniel Bryan vs. John Cena vs. Sheamus vs. Christian vs. Cesaro

Who will be the WWE World champ heading into the biggest show of the year, Wrestlemania 30? It’s the playoffs for WM30 with WWE positioning several stars as potential winners.

Randy Orton’s gauntlet series against all of his EC opponents has been entertaining with none of the matches failing to be engaging, yet the Viper lost some venom going 2-3 in the series. WWE has done this same downtrodden champ enters match routine in the past, and it has an expected outcome. Something tells me expect the unexpected here.

Cena is in a WWE World title match here, so there is always a solid chance that the most popular man in the game can leave the victor. Cesaro is more over now than he ever has been defeating Randy Orton and stealing the show this week with Cena in a barnburner on ‘RAW’.

Christian is in the twilight of his career, and no matter what JBL says about his looks (which are not bad) he is respected by many fans as a reliable journeyman in the WWE. His recent heel turn into a desperate man looking for “one more match” is pretty engaging when you take it for it’s worth. Though this Examiner does not see Captain Charisma leaving Minnesota with the title, he will do something to impress fans inside the Chamber tonight.

The man to steal the show year is the leader of the Yes Movement, Daniel Bryan. WWE corporate stooge and Bryan’s former tag partner Kane has done solid job of doubling down on DBry giving him two consecutive matches this week on both ‘RAW’ and ‘Smackdown’. He has been suppressed and denied the WWE title many times since winning it at Summerslam only to be screwed by Triple H and the Authority. If Bryan does not have his untainted golden moment tonight in the Chamber, he can do it on the biggest stage of ‘em all, Wrestlemania.

Prediction: Randy Orton somehow and someway, leaves the Elimination Chamber with the WWE Championship. There could be some dispute or ‘dusty finish’ here which hard to do in an elimination format, the RKO rolls on to New Orleans.

6-Man Tag Team Match
The Wyatt Family vs. The Shield

The faction war between these two heel stables has been widely praised, it seems like one team survives this clash and another will permanently fractured. The Shield has internal conflict between Roman Reigns and United States Champion Dean Ambrose but that has settled with Seth Rollins cooling his partners down. Meanwhile the Wyatts are crazy hot (emphasis on ‘crazy’) after defeating Daniel Bryan at the Rumble and costing John Cena the WWE World title, Bray Wyatt and his cronies have the right vibe here. Prediction: The Shield breaks apart as the Wyatts dominate.

Batista vs. Alberto Del Rio
‘The Animal’ returned to high ratings on ‘RAW’ but the former WWE Champion’s warm-up program with Del Rio has been lackluster in the eyes of many fans. The interactions between the two has almost always seen Big Dave come out the victor, so it feels like a forgone conclusion that Batista wins again here with a WWE World title shot at WM30 already locked down. Prediction: Batista wins.

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
Big E © vs. Jack Swagger w/ Zeb Colter

Not much build here besides Colter’s Real Americans in Jack Swagger and Cesaro are both positioned to come out of this night with championship gold. Big E (no longer Big E Langston) has all the goods in the ring now with a combination of undeniable strength and agility. Swagger who has held World titles in the past, is now rebooted and improved with the meanest mouth in WWE, Zeb Colter. Prediction: Swagger upsets Big E to become the new IC champ.

WWE Tag Team Championship Match
The New Age Outlaws vs. The Usos

The Usos are the youth movement, buzzing with some extra exposure on the ‘Total Divas’ reality show on ‘E!’ Channel and delivering thrilling in-ring performances weekly on ‘RAW’ and ‘Smackdown’. Meanwhile, the Outlaws made a nostalgic return at ‘Raw Old School’ and then out of nowhere walked out of the Royal Rumble with the ‘bronze belts’. That dynamic of old should play out here.

Darren Young vs. Titus O’Neil
The Prime Time Players broke up recently in abrupt fashion with Titus turning on his longtime partner Darren. And like that, a team that many was destined for a Tag Tan title run was done. The feud since then has focused on the emergence of Titus as a selfish heel singles star, and Young in pursuit. Prediction: Titus O’Niel escapes with a victory, but D-Young is still on his trail.

Kick -off match on at 6:30 pm E / 7:30 pm C
Goldust & Cody Rhodes vs. Ryback & Curtis Axel

This warm-up match has the hottest tag team of 2013 , the Rhodes Brothers tangling with the paired of previously hot singles stars in Ryback and Axel. The most intriguing thing that could come out of this match is a possible crack in the relationship between Cody and Goldust leading to a Wrestlemania ‘brother vs. brother’ battle, but that match has already been ruled out by Goldust himself. Prediction: The Rhodes Brothers win.
