On Monday night, the WWE finally pulled the trigger and put the Divas title on their most popular DIva Kelly Kelly. After her victory, Kelly was emotional as she celebrated her victory over Brie Bella. The WWE Universe has been very excited and vocal over her title win. Later on Monday night, Kelly made the following comments about being a champion via her Twitter page:
"Words can't describe how happy I am to have won my first divas championship thanks to every1 who has supported me I promise to make u proud!"
Kelly (real name Barbara Jean Blank) first signed with the WWE in 2006. She eventually made her debut on the WWE version of ECW in June 2006 as an exhibitionist. Over time her character grew from being a striptease to a valet and finally to a wrestler.
Earlier this year, there were reports that Vince McMahon was really high on Kelly and wanted to put the belt on her. Vince wanted to do it "right" as he felt that she had earned a title run. Over the last few months, Kelly has been heavily featured in the Divas division and has put on some decent matches against her competitors like the Bella Twins.
Kelly is one of the most sought after WWE stars as she continuously does appearances and promotional work for the WWE. Prior to signing with the wrestling company, Barbara was a model and studying to be a broadcast journalist.
