In the span of about four hours on Wednesday afternoon, a WWE Diva was fired...and then reinstated almost as quickly as the original report came out. And it all stems from her arrest on Monday afternoon in Hartford, Connecticut.
Tenille Dashwood, better known to WWE and NXT fans as "Emma," was arrested shortly before the beginning of Monday's live "Raw" broadcast in Hartford. She was arrested for reportedly trying to steal an iPod case from a WalMart store in the area. Below is a statement from the Hartford Police Department in regard to her arrest.
On June 30, 2014 at approximately 1:00 P.M., Hartford Police Officers were contacted by Walmart Security (asset protection) regarding a potential Larceny/shoplifter. Based on the investigation by HPD, Tenille A. Dashwood, 25, of Australia and Winter Park, Florida, was arrested and charged with Larceny in the 6th degree, with a referral to the Hartford Community Court.
Dashwood was booked at HPD and issued a WPTA. The unpaid item for which the larceny charge was applied was an "iHome 'Slim Swivel' iPad mini case" color red with a value of $21.14"
According to her laywer, Hubert Santos, his client's arrest was a simple mistake. He noted that she was using the self checkout machine at the location when she purchased an estimated $30 worth of items, but forgot to pay for the iPod case.
WWE went public with the incident, stating they were are of the event and that she was ultimately responsible for her actions. On Wednesday afternoon around noon Central time, word began shuffling around social media that the company had indeed released her from her contract.
Shortly before 5:00 P.M., another report was released from wrestling news site WZROnline that she had been reinstated. After confirming this report, WWE posted on their website that Emma had been reinstated, but "will take appropriate punitive action for her violation of the law."
