WWE RAW in the wrestling hot bed of Chicago tomorrow with a little over a month left before Wrestlemania 30, but it got a lot more interesting today when Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer stating in a radio appearance today that through a top ranking WWE source that CM Punk will make his return on tomorrow’s live broadcast in his hometown. Meltzer noted his unnamed source was a high ranking WWE name and that he was "100% certain" Punk will be on Raw tomorrow night.
CM Punk walked out on WWE in Cleveland, Ohio on January 27th shortly before 'RAW' hit the air. This was a night after Punk was featured in the 30 man Royal Rumble match which was won by Batista. Punk reportedly walked out for multiple reasons including a planned Wrestlemania 30 match with Triple H. There is no confirmation from WWE that Punk will return. The "Best in the World" superstar remains under contract with WWE until July.
The plan for Punk’s participation in the road to Wrestlemania 30 is also intriguing since it seems like the very popular Daniel Bryan is in a previously planned spot for Punk to battle Triple H. Now it seems Punk may return to either resume that path, or he could be injected into the WWE World title bout between the champ Randy Orton and the returning Batista. That pairing has not wowed a vocal portion of WWE fans so adding Punk into the mix and making it a Triple Threat match does flip the script on it’s head for a fresh match.
The situation in Chicago tomorrow for RAW is already expected to be electric with a regularly engaging crowd, but the show will also feature the WM30 host Hulk Hogan, an in-ring confrontation between the Undertaker and Brock Lesnar. This week’s RAW will also feature a major rematch from last month’s Elimination Chamber PPV with the Wyatt Family facing the Shield in a 6-man tag team match. Plus WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton, Batista, John Cena, Daniel Bryan, and the Authority of Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, and Kane all on the show. And if all that was not enough, 'Breaking Bad' actor Aaron Paul is set to be RAW's guest star as well.
Pro Wrestling Examiner’s Perspective: The pop from the Windy City wrestlemaniacs in the Allstate Arena when Living Colour’s “Cult of Personality” starts up could be one of the loudest audience reactions heard from WWE crowd in some time. Punk is beloved in Chicago where he has stolen the show many times including his memorable WWE Championship victory at the 2011 Money in the Bank event. This Examiner will be live on the scene so follow @KevKellam on Twitter for a live in-the-arena perspective.
