WWE Champion CM Punk has gotten a ton of attention in the past few days after getting into a bitter Twitter war with controversial pop singer Chris Brown. Punk took to Twitter this week to criticize Brown who infamous beat up his pop star girlfriend Rhianna three years ago. Punk called out Brown, after he received a wave of publicity for gloating about his recent Grammy Award. Here is the Tweet from @CMPunk that started this war of words.
“I would like @chrisbrown (to) fight somebody that can defend themselves,” Punk tweeted. “Me curb stomping that turd would be a #wrestlemania moment.” - @CMPunk
Brown responded dismissing the WWE superstar while appearing to have little information on who he was actually talking about, when he sent the following Tweet to his more than 8 million followers.
"@CMpunk needs more followers,” Brown wrote of Punk, who has over 600,000 followers. “He's such a leader! Not to mention the roids hes on has made it utterly impossible for him (to) pleasure a women. ... @CMpunk contact my assistant and I'll have em send u an autographed pic for my biggest FAN!!!"
Chris Brown must have not seen a picture of Punk or watched him perform on WWE RAW before sending that message out. The Chicago-based wrestler does not have a ‘roid’ look at all. Furthermore, the current WWE Champion has been a life long believer in the Straight Edge lifestyle, meaning he does not use drugs, alcohol, pain-killers or steroids. Punk has gone so far to profess his beliefs in this lifestyle by having“drug free” tattooed on his knuckes and “Straight Edge” on his chest.
Insulted by Brown’s statement, Punk decided to go one step further in this fued by posting a video on his Twitter which you can watch on this page. In video, Punk clarified that he did not intend to create a controversy to gain publicity and that he felt the need to respond on camera after being accused of steroid use. He goes to say that Brown has not paid for his crime because he “picked up trash on the side of a road” and if the R&B star wants prove something then “put on some gloves” and get in the ring. Punk went even further saying he would “choke out” Brown and make him feel as helpless as victims of domestic abuse feel. Punk noted if the fight were to occur the proceeds could be donated to a women’s shelter of his choosing. He concludes the video by saying he is realistic about the odds against this fight actually happening, but he knows that at some point Brown will get what he deserves and that Punk wishes he was the man to do it.
Obvivously, the WWE Universe is siding with the WWE Champion. So where do you stand on this issue? Is CM Punk right to call out Chris Brown for fight to pay for his past transgressions or has Brown paid the fitting price for his crimes? Post your thoughts in the comment box below.
