The WWE Battleground 2013 results have arrived with a surprise conclusion to the latest pay-per-view, as once again, the WWE Championship remains unclaimed. In the main event featuring Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton for the vacated title, neither competitor won the match, concluding what many fans felt was an underachieving pay-per-view.
An Oct. 7 report via Hollywood Life indicates that the main event championship match was interrupted by an angry giant, namely The Big Show. Show decided to stop the match, taking out his frustrations on Daniel Bryan with a KO punch after yanking the referee from the ring. At the time, Bryan had Orton in the Yes Lock, his signature submission hold, but Show clearly prevented any "tapping out." Orton tried to take a pinfall of his own, and Raw GM Brad Maddox sent a new referee down to the ring, Scott Armstrong, but Show pulled him out of the ring and gave another KO punch. A third KO punch was sent Randy Orton's way when Show got in the ring to have words with him. All that said, there's still no WWE Champion since the Monday Night Raw after Night of Champions PPV.
In other matches, all champions successfully defended their prized belts. AJ Lee had Tamina Snuka at ringside to help distract Brie, allowing her to claim a pinfall. Curtis Axel was able to earn a clean pinfall win over R-Truth to retain his Intercontinental Title. Alberto Del Rio retained the World Heavyweight Championship in a brutal hardcore match, using a steel chair to soften up RVD and then slapping the cross armbreaker on him, through the chair.
In non-title matchups, CM Punk was able to use Paul Heyman's attempts to cheat to his advantage. When Heyman reached under the ring and grabbed a Kendo stick, Punk delivered a low blow to Ryback with the referee's attention turned away. That was good for a pinfall win for Punk. Meanwhile, The Real Americans earned a win over Santino Marella and Great Khali by pinfall after a 10-spin twirl-around by Antonio Cesaro on Khali. Also, Bray Wyatt continued to promote whatever his cause is, as he defeated Kofi Kingston, and spoke to the people after the rest of the Wyatt Family destroyed Kofi in the ring.
The fan favorite match of the night was easily the Rhodes brothers defeating Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns of The Shield. In the match, Cody Rhodes and Goldust had to win, because their jobs, and their father Dusty's job, were all on the line. Dusty came into play late on the outside of the ring as he clocked Dean Ambrose with an elbow. In the ring, Cody Rhodes hit his trademark "Cross Rhodes" to finish off Rollins for the pinfall win, which should allow him and Goldust to work in WWE again.
WWE Battleground 2013 results came from the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York on Sunday, Oct. 6. The pay-per-view was on cable and satellite TV as well as live stream feed from WWE's website, and followed a free live stream "Kickoff" show on YouTube, Facebook and Yahoo! before the main event.
