The WWE is preparing for their next pay-per-view “Battleground” this weekend, and the “Smackdown” on Oct. 4 helped finalize the card. Here is a look at the “WWE Battleground” preview for this weekend’s big show.
The main events are both set. First up, Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton battle for the vacant WWE Championship. There are WWE rumors that the two will wrestle again next month, so there is no telling who comes out of this with the belt.
The world title is also on the line in a hardcore match between champion Alberto Del Rio and Rob Van Dam.
CM Punk continues his crusade against Paul Heyman as he battles Heyman’s newest wrestler Ryback.
The other big battle at “Battleground” see the Rhodes brothers (Cody Rhodes and Goldust) battle for their jobs against The Shield (Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins). Dusty Rhodes will be at ringside with his sons and if they lose, he also loses his job as a trainer.
In a match set up on “Smackdown” this week, Bray Wyatt will battle Kofi Kingston. Also on tap is an Intercontinental title match between Curtis Axel and R-Truth and a Diva’s match between AJ Lee and Brie Bella.
There will also be a free match on the kickoff show between Dolph Ziggler and Damien Sandow.
“WWE Battleground” airs Sunday, Oct. 6, at 8 p.m. EST on pay-per-view.
