October 6, 2013

The WWE Battleground 2013 live stream and televised pay-per-view arrives on Sunday, Oct. 6 from Buffalo, New York's First Niagara Center. Among the major scheduled matches on the card will be Daniel Bryan taking on Randy Orton for the vacated WWE Championship, and the team of Cody Rhodes with Goldust taking on The Shield (Rollins and Reigns) to try to get their jobs back with WWE. Also, Rob Van Dam takes on Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight title in a Hardcore match, with a WWE Battleground live stream kickoff show match also scheduled for the PPV.

An Oct. 5 report via CageSideSeats indicates that starting at 7:30 p.m. EST, the WWE will feature a live streaming "Battleground Kickoff" which includes a free match. That matchup will pit former World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler versus the current Money in the Bank briefcase holder, Damien Sandow. There's no special stipulations on the line, so this will be a basic one-on-one contest, with each guy trying to get back on track with a win before the pay-per-view starts. There's also the chance Sandow could try to cash in later in the night for his first-ever championship reign. Fans can see the live stream "Kickoff" show on WWE's YouTube channel, Facebook fan page, official website, and in the past, Yahoo! Sports has also featured the show's feed.

The main pay-per-view follows right after and features at least seven scheduled matches. Among the more recent additions are Kofi Kingston taking on Bray Wyatt, and R-Truth challenging Curtis Axel for the Intercontinental Championship. AJ Lee will put the Divas championship on the line against challenger Brie Bella. In non-title bouts, CM Punk challenges Ryback with Paul Heyman likely to be in the corner of his new "Heyman guy." Also, Cody Rhodes and his brother Goldust have their jobs on the line as they must defeat Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins of The Shield, or else they'll never be rehired by WWE. The tag match will be a non-title bout, with the special stipulation in place.

The two main championship matches will feature Alberto Del Rio once again defending his World Heavyweight title against Rob Van Dam. However, this time RVD gets the type of match he has excelled at in the past, a hardcore match, where anything goes. Also, nobody currently holds the WWE Championship, but that is to be decided in the main event, as Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton each try to reclaim the belt they've held in recent weeks.

The main WWE Battleground pay-per-view gets started at 8 p.m. EST on cable, satellite and live stream feed via WWE's website service. Fans in Roanoke can also head to the local Hooters to watch tonight's event, while there are other "WWE Blast Areas" around the United States for fans to enjoy the PPV as well. See WWE's website for more details on how to order tonight's event, or how to see it live.
