The last 4 months has been the most successful period of time in the career of WWE superstar Mark Henry. His "monster" push has seen him go from a mid-card wrestler to the top heel on SmackDown and winning the world heavyweight championship. However, it appears that Henry's "Hall of Pain" gimmick was taken from the creative ideas suggested by Brodus Clay. According to a Wednesday December 7th report by The Wrestling Observer, there's a story going around backstage that it was Brodus Clay who suggested that he be used as an unstoppable monster who beats up his opponents and inducts them into his "House of Pain".
Clay made these creative suggestions at the behest of the WWE creative team who was unable to come up with anything for him after he returned a few months ago from doing a film with WWE Studios. Apparently, the creative team liked the idea so much that they gave it to Mark Henry instead who has taken the opportunity and made the most of it. Henry has become a main event player and has dominated SmackDown for the last 3 to 4 months.
As for Brodus, the WWE keeps pushing his re-debut back and it's uncertain when he will finally appear. This isn't the first time WWE has taken a wrestler's ideas and used it for another wrestler and I'm sure it won't be the last. This story is an accurate reflection of the lack of creativity with the WWE writing team.
Clay can still come back as an unstoppable monster on RAW. Unfortunately, his storyline will have to take a different direction as to not be the same gimmick as Mark Henry. I believe there's room for both superstars to success as "monsters".
