While the return of The Ultimate Warrior has dominated a lot of the press for the upcoming WWE 2K14 video game and much of the promotion has been around the “30 Years of Wrestlemania” mode, the “Undertaker’s Streak Mode” has been ignored somewhat. According to Rajah on Oct. 14, WWE 2K14 has released more information today about that special mode.
This was one of the first special features of the game mentioned when it was announced and Amazon actually has a special Undertaker “Phenom Edition” available that comes in a coffin. However, this is the first time they have actually advertised the in-game playing mode.
Fans can either play as The Undertaker, defending the streak, or they can play as any wrestler in the game and try to break the streak. There are also special Undertaker moves that are not available in regular playing modes and this has been described as the most difficult level on the game to win if you are facing the Undertaker.
If you play as The Undertaker, you play a series of matches, building up the winning streak as The Undertaker. You also have special moves, such as the dive over the top rope.
If you try to beat The Undertaker, you choose who you want to play as. If that wrestler has fought Undertaker at a Wrestlemania before, that match will load up to play. If he has not, a random Wrestlemania will load for you to play. When wrestling Undertaker in this mode, he has many special moves such as rising immediately after a finishing move is hit on him, and using his “dark powers” to make the lights flicker on and off, allowing him to magically appear behind your character.
Winning is not as important here as looking good as the game scores users on how well they wrestled, how long their matches lasted and how close they came to ending the streak.
