Wurzburg, Germany is home to the impressive Bishops' Residenz, a baroque structure and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Wursberg is also a great place for a self-guided walking tour, which is exactly what we did, in a day.
Stopping by local shops and attractions took just a couple hours with no public transportation needed on the mostly pedestrian-only streets. On board Viking River Cruises longship, Viking Odin, we docked just on the outskirts of the city center, a bustling area for both tourists and locals alike.
An included tour highlighted the destination with a 'leisurely' version available for those who wanted to go at a slower pace. Also offered was an optional afternoon tour to Rothenburg.
Our day ashore ended at a pub right on the river, within sight of the ship and surrounded by multiple monuments and structures dating back to the 17th century.
