The 2013 Coachella Music Festival lineup was announced January 24, 2013. Hip Hop music made a huge impact at the 2012 Festival with the groundbreaking introduction of hologram technology resurrecting the late great Tupac in digital form. This year's festival seeks to be a bit more practical with it's Hip Hop acts. Dre and Snoop closed out the show last year's show on a high note and it will be near impossible to reach the absolute crescendo of that performance.
Coachella event organizers must have taken into consideration the difficulty of matching the sheer spectacle of the Tupac reveal when planning out the Hip Hop artists for this year's festival. The bar has been set for Hip Hop acts going forward so anything less than an holographic appearance by Aaliyah or Biggie Smalls will be deemed subpar.
Coachella will still be one of the hottest festival's of 2013 and don't expect anything less than great Hip Hop performances. Aesop Rock, Earl Sweatshirt (Of Odd Future), Theophilus London, and El-P are set to rock the festival. These are solid acts and each of them without a doubt will bring strong and entertaining performances.
Amongst the more notable Hip Hop artists set to appear is the gregarious and always entertaining Action Bronson. Bronson's "Rare Chandeliers" mixtape was considered by many critics as one of the most important free albums of 2012. G.O.O.D. Music artist 2 Chainz follows in the steps of his CEO, Kanye West and will perform his brand of party ready music. 2 Chainz' debut album Based on a T.R.U. Story was amongst the most popular releases of 2012. Fellow G.O.O.D. Music artist Pusha T will also be hitting the stage. Pusha T should be pushing(no pun intended) his new solo album My Name Is My Name. Perhaps the biggest Hip Hop act is The Wu Tang Clan. The Wu has been hinting at a possible new project and let's hope it's ready for the festival.
