WTSP-TV 10 adds Mark Collins to weather team

(Tampa, FL) WTSP-TV 10 has added Mark Collins to its roster of weather forecasters and meteorologists. Collins will start at the station on September 15. This is the second announcement of additions to WTSP’s weather team in recent weeks. Earlier this month the station hired Jim Van Fleet as its chief meteorologist from a station in Orlando. Van Fleet is scheduled to start in December.

Mark Collins has worked at stations in Tallahassee, Miami, and most recently at WJXT in Jacksonville.  He is a Tampa Bay native and is an expert at WSI and other weather forecasting technology.  Collins is accredited by the American Meteorological Society and has meteorological certificates from the University of Northern Iowa and Mississippi State.  He studied meteorology and communications at Florida State University.

“Mark is no stranger to our team and to Bay area viewers, as he’s been doing a great job filling in at 10 News,” said Peter Roghaar, WTSP-10’s News Director.  “His knowledge of the Tampa Bay area and Florida’s tropical systems will make him a huge asset to our growing weather team.”
