Sarasota sports talker WTMY 1280 AM, now known as “Fox Sports Sarasota” has a new local morning show. “The Wrecking Crew” debuted Monday at 7:00 a.m. with Sherman Baldwin as host. Baldwin returns to the station after previously hosting an afternoon politically themed talk show a few years ago. “The Wrecking Crew” is slated to run 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. weekdays replacing Fox Sports Radio’s network morning show that had been airing in that slot.
WTMY also announced that it has reached an agreement with the Sarasota High baseball program to broadcast all of the Sailors’ remaining regularly scheduled home games and select road contests this season.
Fox Sports Sarasota will broadcast at least 12 Sarasota Sailors games. In addition to the Sailors’ March 25 opener in the 2013 Sarasota Baseball Classic, the broadcast package includes road games at Manatee (March 1), Braden River (March 19) and Lakewood Ranch (April 27).
Announcers include Steve Huggins and Jose Vasquez. Vasquez was drafted by the Rockies in the 16th round of the 2000 MLB First-Year Player Draft following his graduation from Booker.
