WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (WSO) will celebrate dance, symphonic and Latin music during three shows at the Centennial Concert Hall on January 20-22.
HOT! HOT! HOT! A Night at the Copa is the fourth installment in the WSO’s Pop Series, and features an exciting line-up of artists. Grammy Award-winning conductor/arranger Victor Vanacore will bring his own orchestral arrangements of popular Latin numbers such as Granada, Tango in D Major and Viva El Mambo, while husband and wife team dancers Andrzej and Jennifer Przybyl spice up with the evening with dazzling moves and costumes.
Vanacore has collaborated with the biggest names in the entertainment industry as a conductor, pianist, composer and arranger. He has appeared with the symphony orchestras of Sydney, Melbourne, Edmonton and Vancouver, the philharmonic orchestras of Calgary, London, Belgrade, Bratislava, and Skopije as well as with orchestras throughout the U.S. He has also had numerous associations with celebrity vocalists including the Jackson Five, the Fifth Dimension, Johnny Mathis, Barry Manilow, Ray Charles and more.
The Przybyls met when Andrzej moved from his native Poland to the U.S. after being allowed a sponsorship in 2002. Together they have been winners in the Heritage Classic in North Carolina, the Holiday Classic in Las Vegas, the California Open, and in both the Michigan and Cleveland Dance Challenges.
Tickets for HOT! HOT! HOT! A Night at the Copa range from $23 - $87 and can be purchased at Ticketmaster, the WSO Box Office (204-949-3999) or www.wso.ca. Dinner and concert packages start at $85 and are available through the WSO box office only.
