Wrong turn off interstate: Tennessee witness encounters UFO

A Tennessee witness who got off an interstate highway and was quickly lost on a side road reports observing an object with three, sometimes four, lights hovering and slowly descending over a field, according to December 9, 2011, testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

"I had got off the interstate to get gas in Coffee Co. and went the wrong way down the road," the witness stated. "I drove about a mile or two thinking maybe there was a gas station on down that way, but I ended up turning around and heading back up toward the interstate because the town must have been on up a good ways."

But while driving on that road, the witness noticed an object over a nearby field with unusual lighting - seeing three lights, then sometimes four.

"They would come off and on in a pattern, and a couple of times went out completely."

The witness described the object's movement.

"This object looked to be hovering and descending down slowly."

The witness briefly pulled over and stopped and rolled down a window - but heard no noise coming from the object.

"I got my gas and jumped back on the interstate and headed home. I don't know what that object was, but I never seen something that large not make some kind of noise. And the light pattern was not like a plane or helicopter."

No images or videos were included with the MUFON report, which was filed December 9, 2011. The events occurred on December 8, 2011. No town name was mentioned in the report. The above quotes were edited for clarity.

Tennessee is a current UFO ALERT 5 rating,
with a low number of UFO sightings nationally. Tennessee had 10 reports in November 2011 - the 19th highest reporting state - compared to California with 72 cases, the highest reporting state in the nation.

TN, December 8, 2011 - Object with 3 or 4 white lights hovering Coffee Co. MUFON Case 33920.

I had got off the interstate to get gas in Coffee Co. and went the wrong way down the road I drove about a mile or 2 thinking maybe there was a gas station on down that way but I ended up turning around and heading back up toward the interstate because the town must have been on up a good ways.

While getting lost I noticed over a field area some strange lights at first I though it was a plane but it had 3 sometimes 4 white lights on it. They would come off and on in a pattern and a couple of times went out completely. This objected looked to be hovering and descending down slowly. I have no idea what was over that way and didn't want to find out! I pulled off and watched it a couple of minutes and I rolled down the window but didn't hear a sound. I got my gas and jumped back on the interstate and headed home! I don't know what that object was but I never seen something that large not make some kind of noise and the light pattern was not like a plane or heli.
