Writing assignment: Mouse Mother

Students answer the following questions:

1. Knowledge

A. The Mouse Mother had to speak the “second language” of Dog to successfully scare off the Cat. You too speak in a “second language” to the various people in your life.

GIVE AN EXAMPLE of the different kinds of “second languages” we use with our friends.

B. GIVE AN EXAMPLE of the “second languages” we use with the adults in our lives such as teachers, principals, or preachers.

C. GIVE AN EXAMPLE of the “second languages” we use with our parents.

Besides the cat and the mouse, ANALYZE other animals, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and insects that you can think of and EXAMINE how they handle fearful situations.

5. Synthesis

A. PREDICT what would have happened if the Mouse Mother gave in to her first impulse toward FLIGHT.

B.Humans as well as creatures in the animal kingdom all have that FIGHT OR FLIGHT Instinct. PREDICT in what ways humans can respond differently to fearful situations that animals probably wouldn’t or couldn’t.

6. Evaluation
