Writing a book: to outline or not to outline

See also

Is it a personal preference to outline your book before you begin writing? Technically, yes it is. However I (as well as many other authors) strongly recommend an outline.

Often times writers create an outline and then the story will change and even end differently that what was proposed. This is OK. You do not have to stick with the outline 100%. However, having one will:

  • Help guide you in moving forward
  • Help prevent writers block
  • Provide encouragement in moving forward
  • Give you hope of a completed book
