Writer talks 'Fifty Shades of Grey' movie in new interview: 'It'll be raunchy'

It seems that 2013 is already turning out to be a great year for expectant “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie fans, as The Telegraph reported this Sunday, Jan. 6, that a brand new interview via Style magazine with the screenwriter of the “50 Shades” film, Kelly Marcel, has been unveiled. Handpicked by the inner goddess EL James, Kelly Marcel revealed in the new interview the challenges of bringing the bestselling erotic novel to the silver screen, that “Fifty Shades of Grey” is more than just sex, and simply “isn’t Twilight.”

According to reports, Kelly Marcel has revealed in her latest interview that the hotly anticipated “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie has found such success among female fans because the original novels are a real “modern love story,” and how she plans on bringing that love story to the big screen in her adaptation.

“Regardless of what you think of the writing, ’50 Shades’ is a modern love story, involving two complex characters, and that is what I’m interested in,” said Marcel to Style magazine.

“You have to work at it and figure that s*** out, regardless of what that s*** may be. I don’t care what anyone says, there’s something about Christian [Grey] that’s old-fashioned and very romantic.”

Marcel went on to say that in her screenwriting — of which she already began in December 2012 — the deep intimate scenes between Christian and Ana may have to be shortened or edited a bit to fit the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie, but that they would certainly still appeal to the “raunchy” fans of the “50 Shades” trilogy and upcoming film franchise.

“Well, there’s going to be a lot of sex in the movie,” Kelly Marcel added. “It will be NC-17 [which is about equal to 18-year-old viewing levels for British cinema]. This isn’t going to be ‘Twilight.’ It’ll be raunchy. We’re 100% going there.”

The talented screenwriter added that much work has already been made to ensure that the production and eventual filming of the adaptation will need to stay under wraps, including the potential casting roles for Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.

“We did go through and decide which [sex scenes] are our favorite, but I can’t say more than that yet. As for male leads, no actor would sign up for a film without a script. That would be insane,” Marcel revealed to Style in the interview.

“The fans love this book, and I want them to love the film just as much. I want to make them laugh and cry, to turn them on … I really want this movie to do everything.”

Who else is excited for what the talented production team and Miss Kelly Marcel may bring us yet in the upcoming “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie? What was your favorite part of the interview? Please feel welcome to sound off in the below comments! Stay tuned!
