If your ideal way of counting down the New Year includes celebrating with 40,000 of your closest friends, then tonight’s third annual Big D NYE at Victory Park is the place for you tonight.

In an effort to control the size of the crowd, wristbands are required to enter the free event.  According to a report in the Dallas Morning News, wristbands are still available at Tom Thumb stores, the American Airlines Center box office and at the event entrances tonight.

Get there early!  The event will take place in an enclosed area and monitored by city officialsOfficials warn they will close the venue when it fills to capacity at which time even those with a wristband will not be allowed entry.

The evening will consist of continuous entertainment, prize giveaways and a fireworks display at midnight.

If you cannot make tonight’s event, you can get in on the celebration from the comfort of your own home by watching the broadcast on WFAA-TV (Channel 8) from 11:05 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
