On a day unlike any other the Bedrock City comic shop on Westheimer hosted a major event to help promote the largest comic con in Texas, Houston's own Comicpalooza.

Starting at 5 pm on May 1st, 2014, staff members from The Kube, Channel 57, and Comicpalooza converged on site for the promotional event to bring interest for the upcoming con but also in preparation for Free Comic Book Day on May 3, 2014.
Cosplayers showed up as Spider-man, giant scarecrows, video game characters and everything in between.

Also, Booker T, five time world champion wrestler, as well as Abel Andrew Jackson, and the Lockhart brothers were among the stars of The Reality of Wrestling show talking to fans and taking pictures.

The news crew from the Kube, channel 57, were on hand to interview Booker T , as well as receive a demonstration from the aforementioned Mr. Jackson.

The news crew also interviewed John Simons, chairman of Comicpalooza, and Richard Evans chairman of Bedrock City in preparation for the upcoming convention during Memorial Day weekend.

Also, on hand was local special effects guru and Comicpalooza industry guest George Giordano, who brought along his custom motorcycle , Venom, to the shop. During the photos taken during the evening this one of a kind bike was a constant centerpiece during the evening.

This media event well attended through the evening and with the photo shoots with the various celebrity guests and cosplayers onlookers and passerby from the area stopped by to take in the goings on at the comic book shop.

On Saturday , May 3rd, the Bedrock city chain along with comic shops across Houston and around the country will be taking part in Free Comic Book Day. This annual event not only helps to promote the comic book industry but literacy as well.
This event also ties into Comicpalooza, coming memorial day weekend at the George R. Brown convention center.
