Wrestler of the Week, March 11 - 17

Welcome to year three of Wrestler of the Week. Much like the previous two years this will continue to be a little way to highlight an individual (or tag team as the case may be) that had a particularly banner week in terms of storyline or on-air achievement. Just like in previous years, in addition to highlighting a Wrestler of Week, two honorable mentions will also be noted. Throughout the year point totals will be tallied, and they have been enhanced for year three. Each week 10 points will go to the actual Wrestler of the Week, 5 points going to the first Honorable Mention and 3 going to the second Honorable Mention. At the end of the year a Wrestler of the Year will be crowned.

Wrestler of the Week

Suwama

On St. Patrick’s Day over in Japan, Suwama defeated Masakatsu Funaki to win All-Japan Pro Wrestling’s higly prestigious Triple Crown Championship, which represents three individual championships from days gone by. This is Suwama’s third reign as Triple Crown Champion.

Honorable Mention

Rob Conway

“The Con Man” has been out of the pro wrestling spotlight for years now. So it was quite the surprise when he defeated “The Tokyo Monster” Kahagas to win the prestigious NWA World Heavyweight Championship. The match and victory happened on March 16 in San Antonio, Texas at a NWA Brand Outlaw Wrestling event.

Dolph Ziggler

“The Show Off” quietly had a pretty solid week on WWE TV this past week. On Monday Night RAW he defeated one half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, Daniel Bryan, in a one-on-one singles match. Then on Friday Night SmackDown, Ziggler defeated the other half of the Tag Team Champions, Kane, in another singles match. With those two victories Ziggler has punched his ticket for WrestleMania XXIX, where he and his cohort Big E Langston can challenge Team Hell No for the WWE Tag Team Championships.
