Wrestler of the Week, July 14 - 20

Welcome to year four of Wrestler of the Week. Much like the previous three years this will continue to be a little way to highlight an individual (or tag team as the case may be) that had a particularly banner week in terms of storyline or on-air achievement. Just like in previous years, in addition to highlighting a Wrestler of Week, two honorable mentions will also be noted. Throughout the year point totals will be tallied. Just like in year three, each week 10 points will go to the actual Wrestler of the Week, 5 points going to the first Honorable Mention and 3 going to the second Honorable Mention. At the end of the year a Wrestler of the Year will be crowned.

Wrestler of the Week

The Miz

Last night at the Battleground pay per view, The Miz outlasted 28 other men in a battle royal to win the vacant WWE Intercontinental Championship. It is now Miz’ third reign as Champion and the perfect accessory for Miz to have while the company tries to get over his new delusional Hollywood star character.

Honorable Mention

BxB Hulk

On July 20 over in the Dragon Gate promotion in Japan, BxB Hulk defeated YAMATO at the Dragon Gate Kobe Pro Wrestling Festival 2014 to win the Open the Dream Gate Championship, which is Dragon Gate’s premier singles Title. It is first reign as Champion and now makes him The Guy in Dragon Gate.

The Millenials (T-Hawk & EITA)

At the same Kobe Pro Wrestling Festival, the young upstarts called The Millenials defeated Akira Tozawa and Shingo Takagi to win the Open The Twin Gates Championships, which is Dragon Gate’s version of the traditional tag team championship.
