Wrestlemania 29 at a glance: Part 2 - The Undertaker vs. CM Punk

The following are my impressions as they happened:

The meat of Wrestlemania XXIX starts here. CM Punk comes out with a live performance of “Cult of Personality” by Living Colour. What the heck happened to singer Corey Glover? Calm down, guy. The Undertaker certainly took his time getting to the ring for maybe the last time. The Wrestlemania win streak of Taker is on the line again, this time against the company's top performer. The (old) Deadman is just plodding around at a pace that would make Hulk Hogan look like Rey Mysterio. Have to wonder if this isn't it as Punk pulls Undertaker down from the rope and then mocks him with his own rendition of “Old School”. Punk takes the big man down again with a Macho Man double axe handle off the top to the floor.

The tables turn as Punk tries for “Old School” a second time only to suffer some sweet junk destruction. Paul Heyman interferes giving Punk the upper hand again. After more Randy Savage emulation with the flying elbow, he goes for the GTS. Undertaker counters with a chokeslam and gets a two count. He hits Punk with the Snake Eyes but catches a heel kick in the mush.

They go outside where Taker attempts to powerbomb Punk through the announcers' table. Punk escapes only to deliver another flying elbow with Taker on the table. Punk hit his leg pretty hard on the table himself. The Deadman narrowly avoids the countout. He locks the Hell's Gate (Taker has come up with more moves in the last five years than he did in his first fifteen) but Punk turns it into a pinning combination. Taker released the hold and attempts a chokeslam. Punk reverses to the GTS and then Undertaker reverses and drops Punk on his head with the Tombstone.

Punk manages to kick out and it appears Taker has been lacerated. An exchange leads to another attempt at the Last Ride but with the referee incapacitated, Punk hits him with the urn. Another near fall. A few more reversals an missed GTS, Taker hits Punk with another Tombstone and it is too much for Chicago's rebellious wrestler. The streak continues for yet another year. It has to end eventually, right?
