WRC Tops Local Emmys

WRC led the pack with 11 statues received at the 56th Emmy Awards last Saturday night. The event was held at the Fillmore in Silver Spring and was attended by over 500 broadcasters from the District, Maryland and Virginia. Comcast Sportsnet received 9 awards, WUSA and MPT took home 6 each, WTTG and WJLA both left with 5 Emmys.

Jim Vance received the prestigious Board of Governors honoring his 45 years of work in DC television, and the Ted Yates Award was presented to Jeff Myers of WAVY-TV in Norfolk.

The Academy received 825 entries covering the time period between January 1 and December 31, 2013. Emmys were awarded in 92 categories with a total of 107 wins. Complete information is available at capitalemmys.tv.

A broadcast of the Emmy Awards will air on MPT2 tonight (Wednesday June 18th) at 8PM and again on MPT at midnight.
