WPMI-TV uses corporate resource for broadcasting national news from local level

WPMI-TV recently began using a resource of the Sinclair Broadcast Group for broadcasting news about the federal government of the United States during local news programs, specifically the reporting of Kristine Frazao, an employee of the Sinclair Broadcast Group based in Washington in the District of Columbia. The reports were usually broadcast without any references to the group during their introductions or during their signatures (or sign-offs).

WPMI-TV was able to broadcast the reports because the Sinclair Broadcast Group had a deal with Deerfield Media, Inc., the owners of the broadcast license for the station, to provide programming to the station such as news programming. The deal had been in effect since Saturday, December 2nd, 2012, the same day the Sinclair Broadcast Group closed the deal to purchase the broadcast assets of WPMI-TV (along with WJTC-TV) from Newport Television and the deal to sell the broadcast license of the station to Deerfield Media, Inc.
