According to the programming guides for WPMI-TV and their companion station* WJTC-TV from TitanTV, Zap2it, and TV Guide, WPMI-TV had planned on broadcasting a new program about how to prepare for tropical cyclones (according to WPMI-TV, the program was titled "Surviving the Storm") this Monday, June 2nd, during the time period they had normally used for broadcasting the syndicated entertainment news program "Entertainment Tonight" from Monday through Friday (6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.) as part of their main broadcast channel's programming while WJTC-TV would be set to broadcast this Monday's edition of "Entertainment Tonight" later during the time period they had normally used for broadcasting the comedic program "Sanford and Son" from Monday through Friday (7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.).

*WPMI-TV and WJTC-TV share the same broadcast facility in Mobile and the same owners since they members of the same company, the Sinclair Broadcast Group.

(correction notice: this article originally had "Eye on the Storm" as the title for the special weather program due to its appearances in the TV programming guides for WPMI-TV from TitanTV and TV Guide)
