On Wednesday, March 6th, WPMI-TV broadcast a commentary segment titled "Behind the Headlines with Mark Hyman" between 6:52 a.m. and 6:54 a.m. during a break for the local news program they produced from 5:00 a.m. until a few minutes before 7:00 a.m. The segment was part of a series of segments normally broadcast by stations affiliated with the Sinclair Broadcast Group; WPMI-TV has been one of those stations since (Saturday) December 1st, 2012 after the group closed a deal to purchase the station (along with WJTC-TV) and closed a deal to sell its broadcast license to Deerfield Media, Inc.
Before WPMI-TV became a part of the Sinclair Broadcast Group, WEAR-TV usually broadcast a "Behind the Headlines" segment between 11:00 p.m. and 11:01 p.m. after the end of their local 10:00 p.m. newscast on any day of a calendar week except Saturday and Sunday. The Sinclair Broadcast Group owned WEAR-TV also, along with its broadcast license.
